The City of Love
How I absolutely adore this place! It really is so romantic. Everything, from the people to the food, is so fulfilling. There is so much history and so many things to do. You're in for a real treat in this little slice of paradise.

My top 5:

  • Louvre. Now, keep in mind: This museum is ginormous so if you can, dedicate at least 1 or 2 days here. The art is just…. unexplainable. I regret not spending more time there but in all fairness, I had a hurt foot and my friend was injured as well. It requires A LOT of walking. Take your time. Get lost in the masterpieces. Oh, and look up. The ceilings are gorgeous. Pro tip: I don’t know if this has changed since I went back in 2015 but you cannot pick up your ticket at the museum, you can either get it mailed to you or pick it up at a designated location and they give you lists of where to go. It’s a bit disorganized and I felt like a crazy person trying to find where I could pick up my tickets. Hopefully this changed. Book your tickets here. And book ahead of time!

  • Catacombs. This was my favorite thing I have ever done. I didn’t even know this was an actual place until my friend brought it to my attention. It’s basically an underground grave sight. You are up close and personal with thousands of skulls and bones. There is one skull that still had teeth in it. Can you believe that? It blew my mind. This was created because back when the plague hit, it wiped out thousands of people and they started to run out of places to burry people so they created this. To me, it’s almost like a morbid art form. They placed the skulls and bone all on top of each other or in the middle of the room as to respect the bodies that once consumed them. Very cool. Book your tickets here.

  • Eifel Tour. This is a given, I know, but I had to write it in because it took my breathe away the minute I laid eyes on it. It lights up at 9pm and you can catch people on the lawn with their blankets being all European and cute.

  • Luxembourg Gardens. Created in 1612, this beautifully landscaped garden is mesmerizing. Every where you turn you’re taken away by all the plants, flowers, statues, the large pond, etc. I love the rose garden. I felt like Alice in Wonderland.

  • The Palais Garnier. It only cost us about 10 euros to take a tour of this spectacular space. Everything from the art work on the ceilings, the details in the carpets and the glistening chandeliers had me and my friend in tears. We were just so overwhelmed by all the beauty and history. There are guided tours available as well. I recommend seeing this in person. You won’t regret it.
