Tulum, Mexico

The trend setting, picturesque, beautiful Tulum.

I went back in 2019 before the pandemic, so in terms of how it is now vs then… I couldn’t really tell you but what I CAN tell you is how magical and grounding it was to experience such a tranquil, vibrant, & electric part of Mexico. The energy of the people, food we ate, music we danced to, cenotes we swam in, all was absolutely soul warming. I really encourage you to make a trip out here. You won’t regret it.

I stayed in an Airbnb right outside of the main area and luckily for you, there’s plenty of them to choose from! Just be safe when traveling and picking where to say, as you should always do.

How to get there:

I rented a car from Cancun International Airport and used this as my main means of transportation. In my opinion, it’s the only way to get around independently if you’re not trying to sit at the resort all day long. Some hotels in Cancun offer shuttles to and from airport but that’s only convenient if you’re planning to stay in Cancun and not Tulum. You need a car to get to Tulum otherwise you’ll spend over $100 to get there from Cancun by Taxi. It takes around 2 hours to get to Tulum by car.

My favorite spots:

  • Swimming in a Cenote - Ok this goes without saying but I mean…. I need to say it. SWIM. IN. A. CENOTE. Cenotes are natural pits/sink holes that exposes ground water. The history behind it is intriguing and I felt like I was swimming in an underwater world straight out of a movie. I’ve never seen something like it before. Book your tour here.

  • ATV - If you love action packed adventure and want to see Mexico in a different way, I encourage you to book a tour with a ATV company and trek through the many jungles and beaches Tulum has to offer. Super fun for a day out in nature :)

  • Chichen Itza - One of the 7 wonders of the world! Do it.

  • Dancing and shopping in The Pueblo - This is downtown Tulum and SO MUCH FUN. My friends and I spent the day shopping, eating, and the night dancing our life away. If you’re looking to be social and experience night life, this is the place to be.

  • Beach it baby - Playa Paraiso. Laguna de Kaan Luum are two of my favorite beaches in Tulum!

  • Snorkel with the sea turtles - There are so many fishes and sea turtles to see when snorkeling. I loved it so much. I went through a tour company and it was the best experience.
